Hoffenheim are able to carve out a late chance for themselves with a corner over on the left flank, but, like most this evening, Demirbay's cross into the penalty area is poor and fails to find a team-mate in front of goal.

85'
Milner floats a lovely ball deep down the right flank and into the path of Firmino out wide. The Brazilian meets it well and then tries to pick out Salah with a low cross into the middle of the Hoffenheim box, but Baumann is there to cut out the danger at the vital moment.
83'
Wagner is almost set up to test Mignolet with another header after latching onto a dangerous cross from Zuber, but this time he's quickly closed down by red shirts and can't make decent contact with the ball.
81'
Great defending by Toljan! A Hoffenheim attacking move breaks down and allows Mane to burst forward on a quick counter-attack. It initially looks as if he's going to be able to carve out a chance on goal for himself, but Toljan sticks with him and wins the ball back for the visitors.
79'
S. Wagner has scored a goal for Hoffenheim! Assist by A. Kramarić.
It's been a tough evening for Kramaric, who has seen little of the ball for most of the night, but he did really well to set up Wagner there, despite some less than stellar defending from the home fans.
GOAL! Hoffenheim have pulled back another one! A wonderful swinging cross from Kramaric sails right onto the head and sets up Wagner, who rises high and easily beats Mignolet with a downward header. Game on? Probably not.
78'
Thumping strike by Demirbay! Space opens up for the midfielder just outside of the Liverpool penalty area and allows him to get a shot away, but his fierce low effort is just about stopped by the legs of Mignolet.

76'
Almost a chance for Szalai! A clever ball from Zuber fizzes across the face of the Liverpool goal and almost finds the ehad of Szalai, but, despite his best efforts, the big Hungarian can't quite reach it.
74'
Slightly sloppy play by Milner deep inside the Liverpool half of the pitch allows Steven Zuber to get a shot away from 20 yards out, but his effort on goal lacks the power needed to trouble Mignolet and is easily deflected away from danger.
72'
Wijnaldum plays a quick one-two with Henderson just outside of the Hoffenheim box before trying to spin and find a way forward, but he's well marshalled by two white shirts and loses his footing at the vital moment.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have brought on Joe Gomez to take the place of Alexander-Arnold.

63'
Roberto Firmino has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by J. Henderson.
Henderson did well to close down Vogt and dispossess him deep inside the Hoffenheim half of the pitch, but, once again, the visitors shot themselves in the foot with some really torrid play when they were under no pressure whatsoever.
GOAL! Truly terrible play by Hoffenheim at the back allows Henderson to pick Vogt's pocket and burst into the box. He then selflessly sets up Firmino, who is easily able to tap the ball past Baumann and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
61'
Nervy moments at the back for Liverpool! A looping cross into the middle of the Liverpool box should be dealt with by Mignolet, but he somehow manages to drop the ball under pressure from Szalai. He then fumbles it once again, but, eventually, the Belgian can collect the ball before a Hoffenheim player can get a shot away from close range.
60'
Another opportunity for Wijnaldum! Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum link up really well after the youngster manages to muscle his way into the box, but the Dutchman's first-time strike is comfortably saved by Baumann before Alexander-Arnold's follow-up flies safely wide of the goal.
58'
More good play by Mane seems like skip into the left-hand side of the Hoffenheim penalty area before unleashing a thumping shot, but Baumann does well to get a hand on it at the near post to stop the Senegalese forward from increasing Liverpool's lead.
56'
Á. Szalai enters the game and replaces S. Gnabry.
Hoffenheim have decided to make another attacking alteration, with Adam Szalai coming on to take the place of Gnabry.
55'
Liverpool aren't able to clear the danger from deep within their own half of the pitch, allowing Uth to fizz a dangerous pass across the face of goal. It can't find a white shirt, however, and Mignolet can watch the ball roll out for a goal-kick.
54'
Great chance for Wijnaldum! Salah and Wijnaldum link up really well with a quick one-two, setting up the Dutchman to burst into the box. He only has Baumann to beat, but he can't get the better of the goalkeeper and sends a deflected shot over the top of the crossbar. Despite the German managing to get a hand to it, the referee awards a goal-kick instead of a corner.
53'
Mane is continuing to cause all sorts of problems over on the left wing, where Kaderabek is having a terrible time. He cuts inside and beats the Czech wing-back before penetrating the penalty area, but he's eventually closed down at the near post and has to settle for a corner.
51'
K. Vogt gets yellow.
Vogt cynically blocks off Firmino and barges the Brazilian to the ground, leaving the referee with no choice but to award Liverpool a free-kick and show the Hoffenheim captain a yellow card.
50'
Salah initially seems to get the better of the Hoffenheim back line as he storms forward and latches onto a poked pass from Firmino, but the linesman's flag is correctly raised before he can penetrate the visitors' penalty area.
48'
Hoffenheim win themselves a corner over on the left flank, but it's poorly executed and allows Liverpool to counter-attack quickly. Alexander-Arnold is able to swing in a beautiful cross from the right, but it ends up bouncing just a yard or two in front of Firmino in the middle of the penalty area.
47'
Georginio Wijnaldum is almost set up with an early chance to further Liverpool's already sizeable lead, but he can't quite get the ball out of his feet and Baumann is just about able to collect it under pressure from the Dutchman.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +1
J. Henderson gets yellow.
Jordan Henderson becomes the latest player to receive a yellow card after catching Demirbay on the top of the foot with a late challenge. That looked like a pretty nasty one.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
44'
Space opens up for Uth and allows him to storm into the right-hand side of the hosts' box before shooting, but Mignolet is just about able to get a slight touch on the striker's low strike to tip it behind for a corner. It's sent short to Gnabry, who tries to skip into the penalty area but can't get the better of Moreno.
42'
And now Can almost scores! Lovely play by Liverpool on the edge of the Hoffenheim penalty area sets up Can to shoot, and the German ends up firing a great low strike that rolls an inch or so wide of the goal.
41'
Gnabry goes close! Once again, the youngster causes problems out wide before cutting inside and unleashes a dangerous cross-cum-shot. It fails to find a team-mate in front of goal but bounces just wide of the far post, giving the home fans a bit of a scare.
39'
Gnabry embarks on a wonderful run as he cuts inside from the left flank and towards the near post, but, despite getting the better of two players, he can't skip past Matip and has to settle for a corner. It's poorly hit though, and Moreno is easily able to deal with the danger at the near post.
37'
P. Kadeřábek gets yellow.
Ouch! The referee's yellow card is out once again, and this time it's Kaderabek who's on the receiving end after a very late challenge catches Mane on the calf.
36'
Mane almost makes it 4-1! Liverpool keep the danger alive and quickly come back through Salah. The Egyptian cuts into the penalty area and then sets up Mane on the edge of the six-yard box, but the Senegalese forward's effort is well smothered by Baumann.
34'
Alexander-Arnold manages to get himself into a good position over on the right-hand side of the Hoffenheim box before fizzing a dangerous pass across the face of goal, but Benjamin Hubner is just about able to poke the ball behind for a corner that fails to result in a chance for the home side.
32'
It's proving to be a slightly nervy period for Liverpool, who have found themselves out of possession since Hoffenheim switched to a four-man defence. The visitors are doing much better when pushing forward, with Gnabry and Wagner starting to get more involved.
30'
D. Geiger gets yellow.
Geiger charges into Mane and cynically pushes the Senegalese forward to the ground off the ball, leaving the referee with no choice but to show him a yellow card.
28'
M. Uth has scored a goal for Hoffenheim! Assist by S. Wagner.
Wagner did well to latch onto the ball before teeing up Uth, but Liverpool were far too lax at the back and really should have done better when trying to clear the danger.
GOAL! Hoffenheim have pulled one back! A poor pass out from the back by Dejan Lovren can only find Wagner, who quickly sets up Uth to fire a great low strike past the fingertips of Mignolet and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. Game on?
27'
More good play by Hoffenheim almost sees Wagner get the better of Simon Mignolet with a close-range shot, but he's closed down well and can't make decent contact with the ball, allowing Liverpool to deal with the danger without too many problems.
25'
Gnabry almost pulls one back for Hoffenheim! The youngster makes a great run into the box and gets the better of Moreno before latching onto a lovely pass from Andrej Kramaric, but he can't find the back of the net with his poked effort over to the far post.
24'
M. Uth enters the game and replaces H. Nordtveit.
Hoffenheim have decided to make an early substitution, and, unsurprisingly, it's an attacking one. Nordtveit has made way for Mark Uth, who scored his side's consolation goal last week.
23'
Mane looks to be on his way into the Hoffenheim box once again as he storms down the left channel, but he's dispossessed at the vital moment and the visitors are just about able to hold on.
21'
E. Can has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Roberto Firmino.
GOAL! Liverpool are flying! Mane and Firmino get the better of Havard Nordtveit over on the left-hand side of the Hoffenheim penalty area before the latter fires a great cross over to the far post. It easily picks out Can, who is all alone and manages to fire in his side's third goal of the game. What an evening this is turning out to be for the Reds!
Liverpool's front three have been on top form this evening, and they're causing all sorts of problems for the Hoffenheim back line. Firmino showed great understanding with Mane before picking out Can perfectly.
19'
Big call for a Hoffenheim penalty! Wagner and Gnabry link up really well on the edge of the Liverpool box before the latter storms in and goes down under a tackle from Alexander-Arnold. He turns to the referee and asks for a penalty, but the man in charge isn't at all interested.
18'
Mohamed Salah has scored a goal for Liverpool!
GOAL! It's another for Liverpool! Great play by Firmino over on the left-hand side of the Hoffenheim box sees him set up Mane with a clever pass into the middle of the penalty area. The Senegalese forward quickly shoots and hits the post with his effort, but Salah is there to poke the ball into the back of the net from close range to make it 2-0.
17'
Vogt brings another attempted Liverpool attacking move to an end and storms forward before trying to set up Gnabry. His thumped pass forward is a decent one, but Moreno is there to cut out the danger with his head.
16'
Alexander-Arnold cuts inside from the right wing and tees up Salah, who then quickly lays a pass off to Firmino. The Brazilian knocks the ball up towards Kevin Vogt and seemingly into the defender's hand, but the referee doesn't see anything and waves play on.
14'
More good play by Liverpool out wide sees Moreno win a free-kick after being bundled over by Dennis Geiger. It's whipped in by the Spaniard and towards Joel Matip, who can only knock the ball into the hands of Baumann.
12'
Hoffenheim are really struggling to deal with Liverpool's intense pressing, which is making life really difficult for the visitors' back line. They're wanting to play out from the back but the energy being shown by the home side is denying them the opportunity to do so.
10'
E. Can has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by S. Mané.
That was really good play by Mane, who did well to keep the danger alive despite being closed down well by Kaderabek. He picked out Can perfectly and caused plenty of problems for the Hoffenheim back line with his direct running.
GOAL! It's the perfect start for Liverpool! A wonderful pass forward from Firmino sets up Mane, who initially gets the better of Kaderabek before being closed down by the Czech wing-back. He holds up the ball and tees up Emre Can with a lovely flick, and the German midfielder then fires a deflected shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
9'
Alexander-Arnold is clumsily tripped over on the right flank, resulting in another free-kick for the home side in a promising position. The youngster whips a clever cross towards the near post, where Roberto Firmino is waiting, but the Brazilian can't get the ball under control and loses out to Sandro Wagner.
8'
Moreno does well to set up Salah with a low cross that someone evades every white shirt inside the Hoffenheim penalty area. The Egyptian then quickly shoots, but his effort is immediately closed down and fails to trouble Baumann.
7'
What an opportunity for Serge Gnabry! Hoffenheim move the ball around quickly as they carve out their first chance on goal. Kerem Demirbay sets up Kaderabek to tee up Gnabry in front of goal, but, despite being left all alone by the Liverpool defenders, the young forward can't hit the target with his first-time strike and sends it wide.
5'
Salah causes plenty of problems over on the left-hand side of the Hoffenheim box before winning his side an early corner. It initially fails to result in a chance on goal before eventually falling to Mane, who tries to pull off an overhead kick at the far post but can't get the better under control.
4'
Huge chance for Sadio Mane! A beautiful poked pass from Salah rolls through the middle of the Hoffenheim defence and over to Mane. The Senegal international is completely unmarked and easily manages to latch onto the ball, but he can't beat Oliver Baumann and ends up firing a low shot straight at the goalkeeper.
3'
Trent Alexander-Arnold's curling strike from the set-piece deflects off the top of the Hoffenheim wall and over to Mohamed Salah at the far post. The Egyptian sticks out his neck and manages to meet the ball, but he can't keep his close-range header down and sends it over the top of the crossbar.
2'
Alberto Moreno cuts inside from the left wing and sprints forward on a great run, but he's sent crashing to the ground by a clumsy challenge from Pavel Kaderabek, leaving the referee with no choice but to award Liverpool a free-kick in a very dangerous position. Can they make it count?

We're off! Hoffenheim get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Champions League play-off second leg clash between Liverpool and Hoffenheim at Anfield.
Liverpool have one foot in the group stage of the Champions League thanks to last week’s 2-1 win at the Rhein Neckar Arena, but they’ll be well aware that they can’t afford to let their foot off the pedal against such a determined Hoffenheim side. The German team ran them close eight days ago, with Marc Uth’s late goal helping to get them back into the tie.
The home side will be without Philippe Coutinho once again, but they’ve been performing well despite the Brazilian’s absence and head into this evening’s game unbeaten in their opening three clashes of the new season. The Reds showed good determination to break down Crystal Palace on the weekend, setting themselves up nicely for tonight’s hugely important contest.
Whilst Liverpool are aiming to reach the group stage of the Champions League for only the second time in eight seasons, Hoffenheim have never before got this far in the competition. Die Kraichgauer were outclassed for most of the first leg and did well to get back into it late on, but stopping Liverpool from scoring (something they simply must do) could prove to be too big an ask for Julian Nagelsmann’s men.
Only Southampton have picked up a clean sheet against Liverpool since a shock draw at home to minnows Plymouth Argyle at the start of the year - a run that now stands at 17 games. The Reds have already scored six times in little over a week, whilst Hoffenheim haven’t stopped a top-tier opponent from scoring in an away game in almost exactly seven months.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Liverpool substitutes: Karius, Gomez, Robertson, Klavan, Milner, Solanke, Sturridge.
Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Mignolet; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Can; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Jurgen Klopp has decided to name an unchanged Liverpool side to the one that started last week’s first leg, with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane once again leading the line in the German’s favoured 4-3-3 formation.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann has made two alterations to the team that featured eight days ago, with Havard Nordtveit and Dennis Geiger coming into the starting line-up to replace Ermin Bicakcic and Lukas Rupp, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
So far, so good for Liverpool, who have dazzled inside the final third of the pitch and head down the tunnel with a well-deserved lead as a result. The Hoffenheim back line have really struggled to deal with the intensity of the hosts' front line, with Salah, Firmino and Mane all looking incredibly dangerous every time they're on the ball. The visitors did well to pull a goal back through Uth, but it's going to be hard for them to find the extra ones needed to stop Liverpool from progressing to the group stage.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 4-2 HOFFENHEIM (6-3 ON AGGREGATE)
The referee blows his whistle for the final time and confirms that Liverpool are through to the group stage of the Champions League. It looked all but certain as soon as the home side made it 3-0 with just 21 minutes on the clock, and from then onwards they were able to thoroughly enjoy themselves as they constantly caused problems for Hoffenheim's under-pressure back line.
Hoffenheim desperately needed to keep a clean sheet if they were to have any chance of pulling off a comeback, so as soon as they conceded after just 10 minutes it looked as if they were in real trouble. The created some really good goal-scoring chances on several occasions but continually struggled at the back, where they were slightly naive and far too open on the counter-attack.
