Description
68'
Brazil are in no hurry now as they shuffle it around in midfield. The home crowd are cheering their side on raucously as the fans signal their desire to see the Selecao score more. It’s a party atmosphere in the Estadio Beira-Rio which will ramp up as the Copa America gets closer.
66'
Everton enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
A. Elis gets yellow.
Elis is booked for a foul on Alves – the fourth card of the match.
Coutinho is replaced by Everton after Brazil’s sixth goal.
65'
Roberto Firmino has scored a goal for Brazil!
6-0 BRAZIL AS HONDURAS FALL APART! Maynor Figueroa gets caught in possession inside his own penalty area as Firmino wins possession, before drawing Luis Lopez off his line and dinking it over the diving goalkeeper!
62'
Brazil’s short corner allows Coutinho to cross from a different angle, finding Firmino in the centre of the penalty area. The off-balance Liverpool forward tries to swing a leg at the service, catching it poorly which allows Luis Lopez to punch away.
60'
Izaguirre is on-hand to intercept a wonderful Richarlison back-heel flick for Allan which would have allowed the midfielder to play Firmino in at goal.
58'
Garrido fouls Coutinho in Brazil’s half in hopes that the hosts will momentarily slow their onslaught.
56'
David Neres has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Filipe Luís.
Filipe Luis’ pass forward for Neres is the assist, though most of the work for the goal is down to the brilliance of the Ajax forward.
A PHENOMENAL INDIVIDUAL GOAL MAKES IT 5-0 BRAZIL! Filipe Luis pokes a pass forward to Neres just inside Honduras’ half, and the Ajax forward dribbles into the penalty area, drawing the goalkeeper off his line and tucking it away neatly at the near post!
55'
Roberto Firmino enters the game and replaces Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus exits the match with two goals as Firmino comes on to replace him.
53'
Izaguirre intercepts a ball played towards the Honduras penalty area, but Richarlison nips in to win possession. Maynor Figueroa steps in with another last-ditch challenge to put the ball out for a throw-in, but the referee awards Honduras a free-kick instead as the Brazil forward was deemed to have fouled the centre-back.
51'
A Honduras corner is taken short, but the pass is overhit poorly as it forces Izaguirre to turn around and run towards the centre circle in order to collect it. Honduras’ best chance at a goal is from a set-piece, so that decision is certainly odd as well as poorly executed.
49'
Honduras are under immense pressure as Allan forces a wonderful save out of Luis Lopez. The danger isn’t over as the ball bobbles around inside the penalty area, but the visitors are finally able to smuggle it away! Brazil don’t look like they want to stop scoring anytime soon!
47'
Gabriel Jesus has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Richarlison.
Richarlison displayed wonderful intelligence to see his team-mate running free in the box and providing him with great service. He’s got the assist for Brazil’s fourth goal!
BRAZIL MAKE IT 4-0 AFTER THE RESTART! A ball from midfield is played into the penalty area for Richarlison who draws two defenders towards him. He heads it down intelligently towards Jesus who slots it home coolly from a position on the left inside the 18-yard box!

Brazil get the match restarted from the kick-off!
45' +4
HALF-TIME: BRAZIL 3-0 HONDURAS.
45' +3
Richarlison is left on the pitch after being sent to ground by an apparent push from Maynor Figueroa inside the penalty area. The Brazil fans are incensed, but the referee opts not to award the hosts a second penalty of the half.
45' +2
Neres looks to round Crisanto and get into the penalty area, but there isn’t enough grass between the defender and the byline as the Ajax forward runs it out of play.
45'
The referee indicates an additional four minutes at the end of the half for stoppages.
41'
The match has descended into madness for a Honduras side who have conceded three goals and gone a man down in the space of 31 first-half minutes. It’s not going to be an enjoyable second half for the Gold Cup hopefuls.
39'
Alves swings a ball into the six-yard box where three Brazil forwards wait for the delivery, but Maynor Figueroa is on the spot to get the vital clearing touch.
37'
Penalty goal scored by Philippe Coutinho for Brazil!
COUTINHO MAKES NO MISTAKE! 3-0! The Brazil forward’s stuttering run-up doesn’t fool the goalkeeper who guesses correctly, but the penalty is hit with power and accuracy into the top-left corner!
33'
R. Rojas gets yellow.
Rojas is booked for a mistimed tackle in midfield on Filipe Luis. Tensions are starting to boil over here as the sides continue to pick up bookings.
32'
Allan enters the game and replaces Arthur.
Confirmation that Arthur will be unable to continue as he is wheeled off the pitch on a cart, though he doesn’t need a stretcher which is a positive sign. Allan is his replacement.
31'
Play is still stopped as Fernandinho and Allan warm up on the touchline. Arthur is still on the ground, shaking his head as he’s worked on by the medical staff. It’s uncertain whether or not he’ll continue, which is worrying for Tite.
29'
R. Quioto goes off after a red card!
RED CARD TO HONDURAS! Immediately following the Casemiro yellow card, Quioto flies into a two-footed challenge on Arthur with no control whatsoever, catching the Barcelona midfield on the ankle. After having a moment to think, the referee brandishes the red card!
28'
Casemiro gets yellow.
Quioto is fouled while trying to counter-attack down the right, as Casemiro comes across to body check the winger. It’s a blatant foul – and worthy of a yellow card.
26'
Manchester City forward Jesus has four goals in his last three matches while on international duty.
24'
Brazil look in full control, as we approach 30 minutes played, with the Elis half-volley the only shot on target from the visitors. The press from Honduras hasn’t been as effective as it promised early on, as Marquinhos and Silva have been calm and collected at the back.
22'
Wasteful from Honduras! Acosta slips into the penalty area on the left and has a chance to shoot on an angle after approaching Alisson’s goal with caution – but instead opts to try and square it for Rojas. It’s the wrong option as Marquinhos steps in to win back possession.
18'
Richarlison receives a pass on the edge of the penalty area and plays a neat backheel pass through for Jesus, but Maynor Figueroa is there to intercept it at the last moment.
17'
Casemiro’s pass towards Richarlison is intercepted far too easily in midfield, and Brazil are forced to come back on defence. Silva slides in and dispossesses Rojas, who is forced to jump over the defender, catching him with his studs in the process. It looks a painful one for the centre-back, but he’ll be okay to continue.
15'
A first strike for Honduras as Elis tracks a high, lofted ball played into the penalty area and turns on it – striking it on the half-volley with some venom. It’s a low shot which forces Alisson to drop to his knees, but it never troubled the Liverpool keeper.
13'
Thiago Silva has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho’s near-post corner was the perfect ball for Silva’s near-post run, and it’s gone down as the assist.
SILVA DOUBLES BRAZIL’S ADVANTAGE! It’s a simple header from the PSG defender who gets in front of Elis at the near post and glances a header towards the far stick, directing his backwards header through the crowd and past Luis Lopez in goal! 2-0 to the Selecao!
12'
Henry Figueroa dives into a sliding challenge on the left wing, getting the ball but clearing out Neres in the process. Nothing irregular deems the referee, who is happy to allow Brazil to restart play from a throw.
10'
Brazil are dominating the match as they look in fantastic rhythm. Marquinhos is pulling the strings from defence, playing a number of lovely passes forward for the tricky wingers.
8'
Honduras’ forwards are pressing extremely high and very intently in the opening stages of the match. It will be interesting to see how long that can be sustained for – and whether the ball-playing defence of Brazil can keep calm under the pressure.
6'
Gabriel Jesus has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Dani Alves.
Alves is a player of the highest quality, and his assist for Jesus’ opener is yet another reminder of that - curling a wonderfully accurate cross to the far post.
BRAZIL MAKE IT 1-0 AFTER A LENGTHY VAR REVIEW! A silky one-two passing move between Alves and Richarlison on the right-hand side leads to a Jesus header at the back post which beats Luis Lopez from close range! The referee chalked the goal off initially for an offside on Richarlison, but he eventually changes his mind and awards it!
4'
Luis Lopez under immense pressure as Filipe Luis plays a wonderful pass over the top for Jesus to latch onto near the corner of the penalty area, which forces the Honduras goalkeeper to exit his box. He attempts to play the ball with his feet, ultimately getting there before the Brazil striker – but giving away a corner.

Brazil get the match underway from the kick-off at the Estadio Beira-Rio!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the international friendly between Brazil and Honduras!
Brazil are in the final stages of preparation before the Copa America - which they are hosting - gets underway on June 14 when they face Bolivia. The Selecao are unbeaten in their nine friendlies since their World Cup fizzled out against Belgium in the quarters, but news that Neymar will miss the tournament through injury has certainly hurt the hosts’ chances of lifting the trophy for the first time since 2007.
Brazil provide Honduras with their last pre-tournament friendly, as the visitors are set to take part in the Gold Cup, where they will first meet a Jamaica side who recently recorded a victory over the United States. Winless in their last three friendlies and without three points away from home since a 2-1 World Cup Qualifier win against Trinidad and Tobago more than two years ago, it will be a tough 90 minutes for Fabian Coito’s side.
BRAZIL XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Filipe Luis, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves; Casemiro, Arthur; David Neres, Philippe Coutinho, Richarlison; Gabriel Jesus.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at how the two sides will line up today, starting with the hosts!
HONDURAS XI (4-4-2): Luis Lopez; Felix Crisanto, Henry Figueroa, Maynor Figueroa, Emiliano Izaguirre; Luis Garrido, Bryan Acosta, Alexander Lopez, Romell Quioto; Alberth Elis, Roger Rojas.
BRAZIL SUBS: Everton, Allan, Ederson, Eder Militao, Miranda, Fernandinho, Roberto Firmino, Alex Sandro, Lucas Paqueta, Cassio.
With the result more or less guaranteed for the hosts, it will be all about systems and individual performances for Tite in the second half. A raft of substitutions is expected as much of the squad will look forward to one final run-out ahead of the Copa America. For Coito, it will be a matter of pride as Honduras will look to keep the score as low as possible. It remains important, however, that the visiting players keep their heads and not make it easier for Brazil.
That concludes our commentary of the international friendly between Brazil and Honduras! We hope you enjoyed it!
Brazil get the Copa America underway as hosts on June 14 against Bolivia. Honduras are in action next against Jamaica in the Gold Cup on June 17.
