Milan get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Serie A fixture between Inter and Milan!
A resurgent Milan under coach Stefano Pioli have gone five Serie A matches without defeat, bringing them up into eighth place. Europe isn’t out of the question for the Rossoneri, who sit just two points back of Hellas Verona in sixth - but to overtake them this weekend, it will require a first league victory for the Rossoneri over their rivals since 2016.
The Derby della Madonnina once again takes centre stage as Inter play hosts to Milan at San Siro. The hosts are the side in form, having gone 15 league matches undefeated, since a loss in their tilt with Juventus in October. As a result they sit three points back of the top, though a win would put them level with the Bianconeri at the end of match week 23.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let’s take a look at how the two sides will line up, starting with Inter!
INTER SUBS: Sebastiano Esposito, Christian Eriksen, Stefano Sensi, Andrea Ranocchia, Kwadwo Asamoah, Cristiano Biraghi, Samir Handanovic, Borja Valero, Filip Stankovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Victor Moses, Lucien Agoume.
INTER XI (3-5-2): Daniele Padelli; Milan Skriniar, Stefan De Vrij, Diego Godin; Ashley Young, Matias Vecino, Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, Antonio Candreva; Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku.
MILAN SUBS: Asmir Begovic, Lucas Biglia, Antonio Donnarumma, Matteo Gabbia, Marco Brescianini, Lucas Paqueta, Rafael Leao, Davide Calabria, Alexis Saelemaekers, Giacomo Bonaventura, Diego Laxalt, Mateo Musacchio.
MILAN XI (4-4-1-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Andrea Conti, Simon Kjaer, Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Samu Castillejo, Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer, Ante Rebic; Hakan Calhanoglu; Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Inter will be reeling after conceding two goals so late into the half, but have little in the way of attacking changes as Lautaro Martinez remains suspended. Eriksen or Sensi could provide a little more creativity, but Lukaku must be allowed the opportunity to isolate and turn his marker, getting a free run at goal. Should Milan - and Romagnoli - be able to counter that, the three points are there for them.
That concludes our commentary of the Serie A fixture between Inter and Milan! We hope you enjoyed it!
Milan are back in action on Thursday, when they host Juventus in the Coppa Italia, before playing Torino on Monday. Inter play Napoli in midweek cup action ahead of their meeting with Lazio in the league on Sunday.
