Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Wolves and Tottenham at Molineux.
Wolves will be looking to bounce back after they were soundly beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Wednesday. They just can’t score goals at the moment and another defeat today would suck them further into a relegation dogfight. Julen Lopetegui’s men have taken just one point from the last nine on offer in the Premier League and they will face a massive test today against Spurs.
Spurs have been in buoyant form of late and could make it three league wins on the bounce with a victory today. They were excellent during their 2-0 league victory against Chelsea last week and are starting to see clear space between them and Newcastle United in fifth. Antonio Conte is set to return to the dugout next week after gallbladder surgery but they’ve performed well in his absence.
WOLVES (4-2-3-1): Jose Sa; Jonny, Maximilian Kilman, Craig Dawson, Nelson Semedo; Mario Lemina, Ruben Neves; Pedro Neto, Pablo Sarabia, Matheus; Diego Costa.
SUBS: Matheus Cunha, Gomes, Tote Gomes, Joao Moutinho, Rayan Ait Nouri, Nathan Collins, Raul Jimenez, Daniel Bentley, Adama Traore.
The teams are coming out at Molineux!
TOTTENHAM (3-4-2-1) Fraser Forster; Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Clement Lenglet; Pedro Porro, Ivan Perisic, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp; Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min; Harry Kane.
Despite defending well, Wolves haven't looked close to scoring so losing Costa to injury will be a massive blow. But the longer it stays at 0-0 you'd expect Spurs to throw more men forward, which could offer chances for Lopetegui’s men to counter-attack. Spurs need to be much more positive with the ball if they want to take all three points here as Wolves look happy to defend and wait for their moment.
SUBS: Brandon Austin, Arnaut Danjuma, Emerson Royal, Pape Sarr, Eric Dier, Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, Richarlison.
It's a huge three points for Wolves that gives them some breathing space in the relegation battle. Their next home game is against fellow strugglers Leeds United on March 18 as they look to secure Premier League status for another season. Spurs will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they welcome Nottingham Forest on March 11. They are still in the Champions League places but Newcastle United in fifth will be pleased to see them drop points today.
